You are encouraged to participate in the Cornwall Child Center’s daily program through a variety of volunteer activities, including field trips, special enrichment projects, holiday parties, year-end celebrations, as well as the tradition fundraising events planned by the Board of Directors. During the school year, parents are welcome to visit the classroom, read a story, join in at snack time, and see what your child’s day is like.

The staff has established many avenues to help foster open communication between parents and the Child Center. Each child has a mailbox can in the cubby room for holding parent letters, notices, and artwork, which parents are encouraged to display at home. Parent-Teacher conferences are held during the Fall and again in the Spring for the purpose of discussing each child’s individual growth and goals. In addition to these designated conferences, teachers are available for individual conferences by appointment throughout the year. Please let the Director know if you need translation services.

There is a parent board located in the cubby room which holds pertinent information for parents on services and programs available within our community. There is also information regarding community events and child center specific events. A parent resource file is also available along with copies of the States’ Health Assessment form which needs to be updated every time your child goes to the pediatrician.

The Board of Directors includes parents who provide a good link between the daily functions of the center and the Board. A listing of the members of the Board of Directors may be found in the parent bulletin board in the cubby room. Parents should feel free to approach members of the Board with questions or concerns. The Director will ask for a volunteer “Parent Liaison”. This is another opportunity for an individual to have a “hands on” volunteer position by helping with special yearly events and fundraisers. Participation is a great way to get to know the Cornwall Child Center and its creative and enthusiastic staff and volunteers.

We hope you will participate in the annual events sponsored by the Board of Directors. Participation in these events is a wonderful way to get to know other parents in the community.
